If you are new to Instagram or just not seeing the engagement or results from your efforts you’d like to, then it might be time to rethink your strategy. I feel like there’s this thinking amongst realtors that  Instagram for business means posting about your real estate business and in doing that a lot of realtors are hiding behind their listings instead of doing the work that will actually get their posts and content seen. So we’re changing things up this week, instead of the typical blog post, we’re coming in hot with a checklist you can use each day on Instagram to maximize your engagement and results on the ‘Gram.

POST CONSISTENTLY

Consistency is key, you want to pick how many times you want to post (5-7 times a week is optimal) and keep it up. You also want to mix it up and add some personal content to your feed. Remember as a realtor you are a personal brand which means in order for people to know, like and trust you enough to want to choose you as their realtor you need to show them who you are, not just what you do.

RESPOND TO YOUR DM’S

If you don’t have a lot that’s ok, just make sure when you do you’re responding to every single one thoughtfully, meaning no emojis. If someone took the time to write to you, you should take the time to write back, especially when you are in the building stage.

POST 4 STORIES (1 MINUTE)

Stories are a great way to get new followers and can be a much more effective way to let people into your life, business and personality behind the scenes. Each story is 15-seconds long which means you need 4 stories a day to get to 1-minute of content…that’s it. You can include polls, pics of your family, behind the scenes from your listings. Really the best way to get inspired is to check out what others are doing in your industry and then keep a running list of the ideas you love.

RESPOND TO COMMENTS

Any comments you get, respond and respond authentically and thoughtfully. No emojis, please. Give exactly the kind of engagement you want to get.

FIND 5 NEW FOLLOWERS

Once a day (or week) head over to the search function and type in a hashtag you think your ideal audience would be interested in then comment, like, follow a few of them each day.

SHOW YOUR FOLLOWERS SOME LOVE

Head over to your profile and click on your followers. Then comment on a few of their posts. After all, they were kind enough to follow you the least you can do is show them some appreciation.

USE YOUR HASHTAGS

Create a group of 15-30 hashtags for each post you can save them on your phone for future use, make sure they are relevant to your post and change them up to see which ones work better.

ENGAGE WITH 3-5 STORIES A DAY

Scroll through stories and engage with people’s stickers, and comment on ones that resonate with you.

Remember the goal here is authentic connection, so always lead with heart and aim to connect in a genuine way. The best advice I’ve ever received when it comes to Instagram is “Give the engagement you want to get” So every time I comment, like or engage I always ask myself “what would I want?” and then give that. I’d love for you to try this out for a couple of weeks and then head back over here and let me know how it worked for you! Or connect with me on Instagram! @fourthstreetcreative
